PRODUCTION GUIDED BY ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

TJ Squared works with a vast number of different raw materials such as wood, paper, metal, glass, plastic and acrylic. Each material has its own unique characteristics that impact the creation process taking into account individual needs, custom-made products and visual merchandising.

Regardless of which material is used, we will always consider the environmental impact of materials chosen for a given campaign. For us, material choice is not only a question of ensuring the best end product, it is also our responsibility to ensure that we do our utmost to protect the environment in the process.

MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR EACH PROJECT

Starting with the design phase for any campaign or when executing designs, we will spend considerable time weighting the pros and cons of various material solutions, supplier selection and production methods. Based on experiences from hundreds of successful projects over the years, TJ Squared has comprehensive ‘Knowledge bank’  which ensures that all projects initiated with our customers are made with the largest respect for nature and the future of upcoming generations.

RECYCLED MATERIALS:

We always offer our customers alternatives made from recycled raw materials to the largest extend possible. For example; paper prints made from recycled paper, acrylic recycled in backdrops and boards  as well as recycled plastic in 3D elements. Likewise, our packaging materials are made from recycled cardboard and certified by FSC.

FSC CERTIFIED WOOD:

For wood and wood derived products such as paper, cardboard and MDF, we always favour using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood products in connection with recycled materials.

Through FSC’s Chain-of-Custody (CoC), we are able to track all wood based products back to the forest from where they originate and can ensure that all the wood used comes from forests which are managed sustainably and with respect for the local biodiversity.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING MATERIALS:

Our entire packaging line is rapidly developing with the goal of replacing oil based materials (such as plastics and packaging foam) with more sustainable and environmental friendly alternatives to the largest extent possible. For example; Styrofoam and PVC, have both been phased out of our packaging solutions and we are constantly looking for other materials to ‘retire’ (For more information see SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING PROJECT).

SUPPLIER CHOICE AND FREIGHT OPTIMISATION

When we decide what supplier we want to work with, location plays an important role. By choosing suppliers located closer to us or by arranging various production steps at suppliers clustered in relative proximity, we seek to reduce our environmental impacts in the form of greenhouse gas emissions both when receiving inbound materials. In addition, by carefully considering the locations of suppliers we are able to limit the greenhouse gasses emitted when our Quality Control staff travels to do production inspections.

In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on outbound transportation to our customers, we offer ‘knock-down’ solutions as a way to lower packaging volume and we will always consolidate shipments to the largest extent possible. We will always encourage our customers to choose sea transport over other modes of transportation when selecting how they want to receive their goods.

EASY INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY

Visual merchandising items supplied by TJ Squared are delivered with comprehensive installation guides, either in the form of manuals or videos with step-by-step instructions. With these guidelines, we want to help our customers be able to install their new visual merchandising items without relying on external construction crews. This way our customers will both save on expense and forego greenhouse gasses emitted from the unnecessary  transportation of these crews.

We strive towards developing both products and packaging so that the various components can be disassembled and disposed together with similar materials. By doing so, we want to encourage proper disposal and hence a higher likelihood of material recycling, taking into account individual markets and customer locations.
